@markgrover Thanks for addressing these issues. I actually didn't realize
that downstream integrator were using `maven dist` to build packages. Would you
mind adding a quick comment to explain what this dist target actually does?
Just asking because we also have a thing called `./make-distribution.sh`...
we'll need to unify these at some point. It's not related to your patch but
figured we could add that while we're here.
