Hi all. Since Apache Spark v4.0.1 tag was created on 2025-09-02, a total of 82 patches have been merged, including several correctness and security fixes which we already verified and delivered via v4.1.1 and v3.5.8 recently.

I would therefore like to propose moving forward with the Apache Spark 4.0.2 release, targeting the first release candidate (RC1) around February 2, 2026. I also volunteer to serve as the release manager for this cycle. Additionally, I'm also going to verify Wenchen's recent patches on the release script and docker images via making the actual release of 4.0.2. WDYT? Feedback is very welcome.
