There are just about a million and one ways to manage DB migrations. What we've
implemented isn't terrible, but the Schema migrations can be automated IMO. The
data migrations will continue to be a pain. Testing upgrade paths should also
be automated via integration testing if possible. Also, SQOOP-1598 should
address some of the code management issues between RepositoryHandlers and
Repositories.
