Joey Echeverria commented on SQOOP-1794:
----------------------------------------

I think there are two aspects. Kite needs to improve it's logging to indicate
that Hive or HBase jars are missing, but Kite doesn't specify how Hive's or
HBase's jars should be added to the classpath. Sqoop in particular uses the
settings of HIVE_HOME and HBASE_HOME to find them, so I think that Sqoop should
provide that level of messaging. Sqoop already warns when ACCUMULO_HOME is
similarly not set.

> From [~joshwills] on [SQOOP-1779]:
> When ACCUMULO_HOME isn't set, Sqoop gives a warning like:
> Warning:
> /opt/cloudera/parcels/CDH-5.2.0-1.cdh5.2.0.p0.36/bin/../lib/sqoop/../accumulo
> does not exist! Accumulo imports will fail.
> Please set $ACCUMULO_HOME to the root of your Accumulo installation.
> It seems like I should get the same warnings for HIVE_HOME and HBASE_HOME (or
> equivalent).
