Good point that the 1.8.0 release is under way for quite a while. I know some
members of the community so let me reach to them to see if there is any
reasonable ETA.
I feel that stopgap solution makes sense only if we want to do Sqoop release
before Avro 1.8.0. Having stop gap solution available in the repository doesn't
seem to be particularly helpful -- if one needs to compile code to get the
"stopgap", manually applying a patch before the build is not that hard exercise.
