Dear All,

My name is Shrey, a final year masters student at the *Indian Institute of
Technology (IIT) Kharagpu**r*.I'm currently pursuing a 5 Year Dual Degree
Course (B.Tech + M.Tech Hons.) from the Department of Computer Science and
Engineering.I have worked extensively in the field of Knowledge graph.

My ongoing masters project deals with the creation of Knowledge graph from
crowdsourced knowledge bases like Wikipedia and Freebase. This project was
also awarded *$1000 student research grant *from Yahoo! Inc.We have
recently submitted a paper in KDD 2014 titled "An Entity Similarity Measure
for Heterogeneous Knowledge Graph with Categories". Last summer on my
internship with Yahoo! Research Labs Bangalore, I have also worked on *news
recommendation based on twitter*, where I made extensive use of *wikipedia
entity extraction* and using *Yago, Freebase,Wordnet and wikipedia
abstract *of the entity to model the interest of the user.As a side result
I was able to provide the ranked list of wiki-categories with scores
(which is currently missing in wiki-categories).It has quite interesting
results.
They seem all quite interesting projects and definitively quite related to stanbol background. Maybe you are also interested in reuse some parts (if it is possible) for interesting contributions to Stanbol.

I find the project titled *Yago integration in Stanbol *& *Topic
Classification Framework for Stanbol *very interesting. I have already done
similar work and I am quite familiar with Yago.I have also been using
Stanbol extensively for NER in my masters project. This is one of the
primary reasons that I want to contribute to the Apache Stanbol project.

Please let me know on how to proceed.
Great! I think, first of all, as others have done before, it would be nice if you can share with the community what you have in mind for a GSoC project involving any of the mentioned issues. Please, don't hesitate to ask for more details or, if you have any further question, please expose them here. So far, both are high level ideas that need to be discussed in detail in order to draft a possible list of tasks that can help you to write a better proposal.

Cheers,
Rafa

Sincerely,

Shrey Sharma
