+1 for adding this.
I've done a lot of work with Cassandra in the past (Back when the thrift
API was the only game in town)
and have always wanted to see first class support for it in Storm -- even
if it is an optional component.
Moving to the DS Java driver is clearly the only way to go.
I'd be willing to act as a sponsor for this as well.
