Btw, last time we already discussed a bit around improving metrics but I felt it will become backward incompatible way in the end. As we released 1.0.0 which feels more stable for users, backward compatibility is the most of important thing to us, whether we adopt semantic versioning <http://semver.org/> or not. Moreover, I saw some issues with metrics consumer on some places so I want to address current issue of metrics before taking a huge step forward. I created an umbrella issue STORM-1699 <https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/STORM-1699> and also two sub-issues which can be addressed right now. - Asynchronous MetricsConsumerBolt <https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/STORM-1698> - Introduce 'whitelist' / 'blacklist' option to MetricsConsumer <https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/STORM-1700> Please take a look and share your opinion. I'd love to make it happen to include 1.0.x, but if we agree to respect semver, it should be included to 1.1.0. Sharing your new ideas or even participating it would be super appreciated!
