Sadly, this didn't make it in time for 1.0.0 - I added the version, would be
great to add the fix versions once this makes it into a release.
Such a major and potentially incompatible dependency change should be treated
with care - potentially we should look at Maven profiles for the different
major versions of the included adapter classes?
