The reason we release connectors alongside storm goes back all the way to 2014 — at the time we didn’t see a need for independent connector releases and it kept the release process simpler. Times have changed, especially with the churn associated with storm-kafka-client. We may want to reconsider doing independent connector releases, or a least do so for storm-kafka-client. -Taylor
