Here's the breakdown of our recruitment:
July
Batch addition of 6 people, all with WSO2 history (I believe)
August
2 new committers (both from WSO2)
September
1 new committer (from WSO2)
November
1 new committer (from WSO2)
I'd like to see the project recruit some people who do not work for WSO2.
There are two ways to approach this:
1. Encourage more participation. Examine how we're operating as a
project and figure out if there are ways we can be more inclusive, or
whether there are things we can do that would attract more people to
participate. (Sounds like this is already being done, but can we be
better?)
2. Look at how we are recognising merit. Is there anyone on the PMC
right now who is monitoring the dev@ list with an eye to nominate? If
not, let's set that up. And let's discuss what it means to be a
committer. Check out the Apache Forrest approach to this.

I think, in general, it's good to be aggressively focused on
recruitment, now, and going forward.
If someone shows and interest, give them a commit bit, and see what
they do. We have a time machine (VCS) that lets us correct most
damage. And you should see how much an election to committer can
motivate people to contribute!
