Neither do I. 1.2.1 isn't supposed to be a final of 1.2. It's just the new numbering scheme. It's still an alpha/beta/RC type release. Seems like a good idea to get everything nailed down in such a way you know it works before variables you don't control get introduced.
The pending changes strike me as all the more reason to get 1.2.1 out the door as soon as possible. So 1.2.2 can have all the dependency changes...
