http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=26317 struts-faces example2 - 2004-01-13 build [EMAIL PROTECTED] changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|REOPENED |RESOLVED Resolution| |FIXED ------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2004-07-07 22:23 ------- Effective with the 20040708 nightly build of struts-faces, you will no longer need to manually add jsf-api.jar and jsf-impl.jar to the sample webapps. They were omitted previously because the Early Access license on the JSF RI did not allow these JARs to be redistributed (by Apache). That restriction is lifted in the final JSF releases (1.0 and 1.1), so they are now included. Regarding welcome files, it is legal to use a JSF based page as a welcome file in a Servlet 2.4 environment (such as Tomcat 5). If you are using extension mapping for the FacesServlet (typically, "*.faces"), then if "welcome.jsp" is your Faces-based welcome page, you would simply define: <welcome-file-list> <welcome-file>welcome.faces</welcome-file> </welcome-file-list> in web.xml. This sort of thing *may* work in a Servlet 2.3 environment on some containers, but it fails on others (such as Tomcat 4.x). A workaround in such environments would be to create a welcome file named "index.jsp" that just forwarded to the real welcome page: <jsp:forward page="welcome.faces"/> Finally, the JSF implementation JAR (jsf-impl.jar) was intentionally omitted from the compile classpath. You should only be importing javax.faces classes in your application, in order to be portable to other JSF implementations -- and all of these classes are in jsf-api.jar. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
