Well I don't contribute to struts but I have to say that one of the
distinguishing
features of the ( less mature ) springframework is that action forms don't have
to inherit a concrete class. 

There has been a lot of criticism of this ( ActionForm etc ) in the past. 

I think it would be a very bad idea not to go forward with this POJO support.

In fact for struts 2 it would be a good idea to get rid of inheritance
and support
POJO instead with option to implement certain interfaces/attributes for 
certain behaviour such as a validation interface etc etc.
