I believe that SaveUser is also suppose to *clear* the login, if user returns
null. If there is an error, and we move on before SaveUser is called, the prior
loging will not be cleared.

I'd be open to the argument that we don't need to clear a good login, just
because another login attempt fails, but we need to recognize that change as well. 

Any objections?
