This reference application would not simply serve as a demonstration of the use of an application framework but would also provide a production grade application instance that could easily be customized and repurposed by a developer. Having a reference application that was also an authoring tool for the framework would enable it to inspect and model that framework, which if done right could provide more value than documentation or example code and provide for a plugable extension model. > There are a bunch of different scenarios (webapp > versus portlet, or database versus web service > consumer, for example) that need to be > examined, and deserve focused attention. I would also include scenarios involving web applications that run on multiple device types, applications that involve content aggregation, and issues related to digital rights management. > I'd be happy to see such demos either in the Struts > repository (for demos involving existing Struts > committers) and at the Struts SourceForge project > for those who just want to try things out and play. I don't have time for demos for the sake of demos and my suggestion appears to be beyond the scope of what is appropriate for Shale or future Struts-related development so I think it would be in the best interest of this project if I did not subject it to the politics of this organization just yet.
