Does your definition of "easier" include writing less Java code?  and
less stuff in configuration files?  If so, please compare the
mailreader code in Struts 1.x versus the Shale-ized version.  You'll
find substantial improvements.

If those aspects are not included in your definition, I'd be curious what is.
