I advocated for both... but not for Maven-generated Ant build files. You brought those up wrt Commons projects, I think.
I was talking about Tiles (now we're back to the original topic) where I would like Maven to build it and install the .jar in the local repository so I can easily have it as a dependency in my own projects. I just want Maven to "work" for Tiles, completely separate from whatever is happening with the Ant build.
