I haven't tried Maven 2 either. Shale would be a good kick in the butt to learn though!
According to their website, it looks like they're almost ready for a beta release. The current release is Alpha 3. I was at the BoF session at JavaOne on Maven this year. They were confident about porting the rest of the plugins that had not already been ported. It appears that they've almost completed that. I don't think that the Maven 2 specific differences from Maven 1.x will make the transition that difficult. The only issues would be getting POMs for its dependencies and writing the maven.xml stuff into a Maven 2 plugin. Thanks, Jeremy J.
