Its probably a great plan to switch to WebWork 2.2 but I still don't
see how you can say its a "merger" if no Struts code is involved -
merger in terms of community, but not software.
I view this merger as first, one of projects/community, and second, one of code.
Don, does Jürgen Schrempp happen to be your brother? ;-)
Ok, that one took a Googling, and I have the distinct impression I should be
offended :)
...and learn Webwork *then* after all. Why not to simply say "Struts
sucks, let's drop it and march together into the better future under
OpenSymphony standard?" Why the need of keeping *this* community
*here* instead of moving/creating community *there* ?
That's a valid question. Here is what I think Apache, and in particular, the
Apache Software Foundation brings:
- Strong infrastructure
- Good legal standing/support
- Well known
- Strong organizational structure
The Struts project itself brings a rich history, strong brand name, tried and
true experience, and yes, I believe there is some code in Struts Action 1.x
worth merging.
Of course, as I send this, I see Patrick responded saying the same thing but
much better :)
