This deprecation is very interesting but doesn't answer my orginial question :

I wasn't answering your question; I was answering Sony's! ;-)

Why does struts allready have a saveErrors(request, messages) as saveErrors(session, messages) can be used for the same use-case ?

backwards compatibility; saving errors in session scope came later.

Why is there no getErrors(session) ?

Oversight, probably. You could submit an enhancement request, perhaps with a patch ;-)

ActionErrors (with "s") is not deprecated, only ActionError is, and should be replaced by ActionMessage.

ActionErrors would be deprecated if it were not part of the public API of ActionForm. If you are using resource-based messages anywhere but in a subclass of ActionForm, you should use ActionMessages.

This is extensively documented in the Wiki. Please see http://wiki.apache.org/struts/ActionErrorsAndActionMessages for more details.
