To be a bit pedantic, I think you mean *building*  an anything->PDF
container is out of scope, not *using* one (or more), right?


Well, yes and sort of, respectively. ;-) I think of this as similar to
anything --> HTML. Just as we're not about to build JSP, Velocity, et al,
here, we're obviously not going to build iText, FOP, et al, here either. But
just as we don't want to build the glue for every HTML generation tool here,
we don't want to build the glue for every PDF generation tool here either.
