I had planned to finish this over the weekend and during this week.
However, my wife had other plans;) Now, with the kids soccer season
cranking up, my free time is even more spurious. If anyone else
wants to take a crack at it, go for it. Else, I'll work on it here
and there as time permits.
For the short term, I added the binaries and readmes to s2/backport.
I was planning to just manually run the translator from the nightly
bash script, but I haven't spent enough time on that to get it
right. Ted, any hints you can send me would help cut down on the
time required to rediscover what (I think) you've already done.
For the long term solution, we should make this available as an
optional profile switch, like we do for extras and apps. I started
down that path by adding the profile and dependency config to the
pom.xml. It's not working yet, but we can discuss this further if
anyone cares to help with it.
