Thanks. I visited the Dojo site and tried their sample DropdownDatePicker
(http://archive.dojotoolkit.org/nightly/tests/widget/test_DropdownDatePicker.html)
 and it does close with a single click as expected. I'll let you know if I
continue to have problems with 2.0.2.

I should have asked what version you were using first. DropdownDatePicker will
be available on 2.0.2, which uses Dojo 0.4, so maybe you won't have that
problem. In 2.0.2 DatePicker is always visible (it is the control that you see
in the dropdown version), I haven't used 2.0.1 myself. What Mark said made me
curious 'cause I don't see the problem on 2.0.2.

I'm using the DatePicker tag (<struts2:datepicker name="birthDate"
theme="simple" format="#M/#d/#yyyy"/>). I deployed the "
struts2-showcase-2.0.1" webapp and I'm experiencing the second issue (calendar
doesn't disappear after selection) with that as well.

As a side note, I couldn't find anything in the 2.0.1 documentation that
mentioned a second, DroddownDatePicker tag.

You are talking about the DroddownDatePicker right? (there is a
DatePicker also) I can't seem to replicate these problems, what I did
saw is that when toggle is "wipe" is behaves a little weird on FF\Linux,
and it does render a little slow on IE. Could you post an example? Or
create a jira ticket with an example?
