To get started, wrap up the release notes at

* http://struts.apache.org/2.x/docs/release-notes-209.html

and nominate yourself as the Release Manager at the bottom.

Then start stepping through the Create and Signing checklist Rainer
mentioned. If something isn't clear, make a note and we can come back
to it later. We can even retag before finalizing a vote, if need be.

The two murky parts might be signing the release, since we don't
otherwise do that other day. There's also some falderol with
assembling the final downloads for the J4 and the docs (be sure to see
the "Notes"). But it's all based on the same tag, so we can fuss with
it later.

If you want to pick a time later today or tomorrow to give it a try, I
can be on hand to answer any questions.

James,

there is a "release howto" available under [1].
This should explain all of the required steps.
Maybe Ted can help you out, if you got any questions or maybe Ted or Don
could even trigger the release process.
I won't be arround regulary till the end of the coming week.

cheers,
Rainer
