internally developed). We're in the process of trying to integrate

I don't mind at all because we ran into that exact same issue. We really
wanted a CMS framework and look at 5 or so different open source CMS
tools, including Magnolia, and all of them were applications and none
were really frameworks. We also looked at the JCR implementations and
decided that they were overkill of 95% of our clients. So, instead I
just wrote a JDBC backed CMS that supports simple workflow and
versioning. Took a few weeks, but it works nicely and has a good WYSIWYG
inline editing with previews and a few other features.
