I too am paranoid about maven, but I am also paranoid about policy... I mean, if there are blessed plugins and enforcer rules that we should be inheriting, then we should try to keep up. I am tempted to do the following to "test" the struts-master artifact -
add a hosts file entry that points people.apache.org to localhost run through releases to see what gets copied where delete the generated subversion tags and repeat the cycle It's not optimal, but we keep running into roadblocks when it comes time to release. I sort of enjoy learning the intricacies of maven, so I don't mind tackling this stuff. But, I'm also paranoid about breaking things, so I want to know how this works and the ramifications of subtle changes. The worst case scenario that I foresee is that struts-master ends up with a version number much higher than it is currently. I also plan to go through each pom when I'm done and make sure they are pointing to their appropriate parents (and then sometime later in my life, like when I feel like I know maven well enough, I will go through and start optimizing our poms).
