At the time (not verified on subsequent releases), GNU libtool 2.x's autoconf broke our experimental libtool autoconf macros as you can't conditionally use anything other than GNU libtool...so, as long as you like your flavor of libtool to be GNU, you won't have an issue. But, the performance penalties incurred by using GNU libtool (c.f. jlibtool) are still very very severe. -- justin
