Hello All, Granted that basically "things change", and often relatively quickly within various OS. However, there could still be improvements with formatting (Bold, italics, font size, hyperlinks ... ), and step through processes in the form of "spectacles, testicles, wallet and watch". Also to include a bit of personal "hand holding" for those not familiar with setting up things from scratch.
For a number of people, knowing what is 'under the hood' or 'tinkering' isn't something they grew up with, nor do they have the social set to absorb it by osmosis. Personally, my family situation was that my brother owned (and guarded) the computer. I only could afford to obtain one *after* I had finished my studies. Yes, this is an *entire* degree later where I never actually had a computer. There are lots of people with 'tech anxiety', particularly when they don't know who to ask. The baby boomer generation is a case in point. I taught my grandmother and mother the basics of how to use a computer and Word. They were taught under exactly the same "control" conditions: the same class, teacher, and materials. My gran was the one the learnt to use a computer and my mother still is tech illiterate. This has obvious ramifications for my mothers ability to function in a now computer centric society. Perhaps the difference is that grandma is from the depression era, where you needed to creatively problem solve and "make do" with what you had. That sort of mentality is a fertile ground for innovation.
