Perhaps there was a misunderstanding about the text at the bottom of http://subversion.apache.org/docs/community-guide/conventions.html#log-messages It says: [[[ If you're using a branch to "checkpoint" your code, and don't feel it's ready for review, please put some sort of notice at the top of the log message, after the 'On the 'xxx' branch notice', such as: *** checkpoint commit -- please don't waste your time reviewing it *** ]]] It doesn't imply that no full log message should be provided. But I can imagine that it's possible to misread it like that.
