A quick status recap on our outstanding issues.

Brane has confirmed that the libtool upgrade fixes the issue, so this
item is done.

Work and discussion on this topic are still ongoing on the ^/branches/
xml-schema-validation-improvements/ branch.

The fix has been committed and nominated for backport, but currently lacks
the necessary votes. I plan to vote myself, but one more +1 would be
needed to merge it.

This is confirmed to be caused by an issue in the compiler (MSVC 19.44 only,
19.40 and 19.50 don't have the problem). We could potentially document this
somewhere, but I think there isn't much else we can do about it.

That leaves (2) as the only remaining item.

from the 1.15.x branch so we can roll RC3, and finalizing the validation
work on trunk on its own schedule.

Thoughts on this?
