There isn't any switch for this in st. st can handle only utf-8 keyboards, and I think it will do it forever. Alt is mapped to meta key in st, so it does the same that xterm with altSendsEscape option. You can adjust your vim mappings to this or hack the kpress function in st. Best regards.
