Hello. I wrote a simple program to set Video4Linux device controls, like focus and exposure time for webcams, using dmenu and wjt. The only build-time dependency is the V4L2 headers. I originally made this as a proof of concept / reference on the way to a proper GUI, but it turned out to be practical enough to use on its own.
