Hi all,

today a PR (https://github.com/apache/superset/pull/16889) was merged that
added support for Python 3.9 and migrated existing CI testing workflows from
3.7 and 3.8 to 3.8 and 3.9 respectively. Superset still supports Python 3.7 for
now, but as we prepare to add support for Python 3.10 (released yesterday), we
will need to gradually deprecate support for 3.7. Therefore, I urge
organizations that are still running Superset on Python 3.7 to begin
preparations for upgrading to Python 3.8, which has been in widespread
production use at multiple orgs for over a year now. No definitive timeline has
been set for deprecating support for 3.7, but for orgs planning on running the
next versions of Superset (1.4+), it is recommended to upgrade by the end of
this year at the latest.

Also, it would be very valuable to get feedback on potential issues running
Superset on Python 3.9. So I urge all brave developers out there to try out
Superset on Python 3.9 (or even 3.10!) and report any good/bad experiences on
Slack, GitHub or the mailing list.

Ville
