For example, on this, we're not yet settled on a specific proposal, but what I am advocating is that we provide an extensible metadata system like Adobe's XMP. So there would be a common model for metadata with some bundled properties. Users and developers could then extend it.

The advantage that this has for these sorts of solutions is that we can think of a generic metadata API and a serialization that works across ODF applications, without need for any particular processing logic.

The programming becomes simpler, and the files are more portable.

I think this has clear advantages over an MS-like approach.
