Hi all
We've discovered that a bug fix to OOo's document export to ODF has made
certain writer documents saved with version 3.0 to appear to loose text when
you load the document in 2.x, even if you change the ODF format version
to "1.0/1.1 (Openoffice 2.x)".

The issue has been closed because the problem with Writer 2.x loading the
document would need to be fixed in OOo 2.x, which is no longer supported
(comment by Éric Savary).
We reopened this issue. I will try to fix it for a release of OOo2.x.
Then OOo2.4.3 will be able to handle the "hidden-text"-attribute of
documents from older 2.x versions as well as documents from OOo3.0 in a
way to meet user expectations.

So if we won't fix 2.x, what do we do for 3.x users - who we do support - to
help them save documents in a way that can be read when sent to 2.x users?
2.x is not going to go away overnight. I'm looking at this problem on behalf
of an organisation with 10,000 OOo installs on several OSes. As a result of
this bug they are talking about trying to upgrade to 3.0 everywhere, but that
will not happen all at once, and even then there will be the need to exchange
documents with other 2.x users.
So given the above, would the best way forward be to work on a way to export
documents using the UI in a way that OOo 2.x can read properly? I wonder if
the ODF format version option "1.0/1.1 (Openoffice 2.x)" needs to be changed
too, since it is misleading because it implies that choosing this option
would create documents that OOo 2.x can actually read.
