Hi Tora, From OpenOffice.org3.0, textgrid had been devided into two mode, which are standard mode and square mode.
In standard textgrid mode of current version, such as OpenOffice.org3.0 and OpenOffice.org3.1, check "Grid(lines and characters)" and uncheck "snap to characters" is equal to "Specify line and character grid" in MS word and "Grid (lines and character spacing)" in your link. check "Grid(lines and characters)" and "snap to characters" is equal to "Text snaps to character grid" in MS word. In my specification, which is improved based on current OpenOffice.org , it does not change the standard mode,which include "Snap to characters" CheckBox. Besides, It improved the CJK mode (tools->options->OpenOffice.org Writer, check "Use Square Mode for text grid"). It added standard text grid with "Snap to characters". So uncheck ""Snap to characters" is equal to "Specify line and character grid" in MS word and "Grid (lines and character spacing)" in your link. However, when open a MS word with "Specify line and character grid", there is compatible problem. I have completed most development base on my specification. There is no problem in snap or not snap ducument between my version and OpenOffice.org current version. However, there is one compatible problem. It happens when open square mode text grid ducument of OpenOffice.org 3.0. That 's because I keep the print area do not change and I thingk this is more suitable for CJK users habits. So in order to solve the above two compatible problems, I need to modify the ww8 in order to read MS word and square grid of OpenOffice.org 3.0 correctly. Please give some suggestions!
