pretty good chance it will shut down cleanly and there will be nothing
to look at the audit log. The audit log usually comes handy when the
reactor shuts down due to an unexpected fatal error.

An orderly I/O reactor shutdown must be explicitly initiated from
application code. It is reasonable to assume it should be possible to
tell whether a shutdown was unexpected or not based on the application
internal state.
