have been around since long time, almost the beginning.
They got some consistent refactoring at a certain point but never got
widespread adoption, quite the opposite.
In the very few deployments that are actually using the feature, the use case
would be easily replaceable by something else.
It seems this is one of the features that look nice and neat on paper, require
quite complex implementation and maintenance but are build just to look nice,
not because someone had actually demanded.
