I'll tell you as soon as I know :-)

I really want Tapestry 5 templates to be namespaced XML documents.

A lot of the confusion and inconsistencies in Tapestry 4 will fall away.

Machine translation via XSLT may be possible.

Could you elaborate on what you mean about confusion and
inconsistencies with Tapestry 4 in regards to templates?
Would there be any chance here to be able to plug different types of templates?
The "html" format of the current tapestry versions is the main reason
we went for Tapestry... Our web designer (I'd rather say our
dreamweaver expert), can still open the templates and modify them.
This helps alot to evolve and add functionality to pages.
With some "cleaner" xml documents, I feel that we may loose this
functionality.
And what kind of transformation via XSLT do you imagine there?

Henri.
