That problem is indeed really annoying. I stumbled over it too and in my case the cause seems to be
in JBoss Common. There's already a Jira issue for this you could vote for
(http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/JBCOMMON-29)

I passed the last 2 days looking for a workaround and in the end I had to
uninstall and reinstall tomcat with no spaces....
