I don't feel comfortable until the code executes properly in the full stack, including browser, servlet container and Tapestry, and including Ajax updates. Anything simulated in that stack is a potential to be different than the end user's experience. Selenium is a pain in the ass, but it's as close as you'll get to hiring actual people to validate your web app.
