I've been tweaking the Gradle build on trunk; I haven't put those things back into the 5.3 build. There's simplifications and improvements, also the generation of .md5 checksum files for the sources and javadoc jars, and the generateRelease target now copies those up to people.apache.org for you. Still a bit more tweaking to do, though!
