Sorry, the bad news is Tapestry 3 apps are really too ancient for an upgrade path. I believe Tapestry 3 was last actively worked on in the 2003-2004 timeframe, and while you may be able to do a Tap3-to-Tap4 migration (see http://wiki.apache.org/tapestry/Tapestry3ToTapestry4), Tapestry 5 was a complete rewrite, starting something like 5 or 6 years ago) with no real migration path. Unfortuantely, the break was necessary to introduce all the cool new technologies in Tapestry 5.
