The problem is that the server for the portal specified in the notebook is not working, or at least not working correctly. You can register on the main portal.biovel.eu and use your login credentials on that machine.
Alternatively, we are putting a Taverna Player and Server on an Apache VM; I am not sure how long that will take.
Another alternative, and perhaps better for you, is to install your own Taverna Server and Portal.
