GitHub user zyratlo created a discussion: Feedback for Result Panel Improvements

## Summary
I'm building analysis workflows in Texera for a collaborator in the biology
domain, and they sent me feedback on the result panel. Results are what end
users care about most when they run an analysis, so the experience of reading
them matters a lot. The mockups below are from the collaborator and show what
they think would be useful. This discussion serves as a collection of feedback
and a place for conversation about how we can improve the result viewing
experience.

## Feedback
### i. Filter text columns and sort numeric columns

Searching and filtering is key so users aren't overwhelmed by the results. The
"Search Columns" box at the top right only matches column names, not values in
the table, and it is easy to miss and scrolls out of view. They suggest a text
filter under each text column's header and sorting on numeric columns, so users
can combine filters to explore the data.

info icons on the headers*

### ii. An info icon on each column header

Users new to an analysis may not know what each column means. An info icon next
to each column name, opening a short explanation, would give them context
without leaving the panel. The workflow author could write these descriptions
when defining the output columns, since they know what each column means.

### iii. Remove the gray row under the column headers

The gray row outlined in red below shows per-column statistics (non-null count,
min, max). They'd like it removed; in the mockup above, that space holds the
filters and sort instead. If other users rely on it, hiding it by default would
also work.

Columns and Next Columns buttons at the top right*

### iv. Remove the cloud icon that appears when hovering over a row

It downloads that one cell's value as a file. Users can't tell what it does,
and the file isn't a type they recognize. It could be removed, or shown only
for cells where a download makes sense, such as images or files.

### v. Remove Previous Columns and Next Columns

The panel shows a set number of columns at a time (15 on our deployment) and
pages through the rest with these buttons (top right in the screenshot for item
iii), while the table also scrolls horizontally. Having both is confusing;
horizontal scrolling alone would be simpler.

### vi. Page navigation at the top as well as the bottom

This matters for users on small screens.

 />

### vii. Other
They also asked to hide some columns from view while keeping them in the export
download, rename column headers, and show fewer decimal places. I currently do
this inside the workflows with an extra operator, but having it in the result
panel would be simpler.

## Questions for the Community
1. For those who manage other collaborations, do these match what you've seen
from your own users, or are there other parts of the result panel they find
confusing?
2. Are any of these changes a problem for how you use the panel today, for
example if you rely on the statistics row or the cloud icon?
3. Which of these would help users the most?

@yangzhang75, @mengw15, @kz930: since you have worked on the form view and new
result panel popup features, your input would be especially appreciated. Are
any of the topics already covered by what you've done, and for those that
aren't, can they be incorporated?
