* Too much synchronization. Everything is protected under a single lock, no
need to synchronize individual collections
* Make it more Java-8-y
* Do not throw exceptions for timeouts. Save time on generating stack traces,
just return true/false just like the JDK
* Remove Guava dependencies
* Other misc cleanup
