Yes, test/test.sh is used within travis and Jenkins builds, e.g.:
* https://travis-ci.org/apache/thrift/builds/17151027

...and vagrant
this is not part of make check today, but might become a dedicated target, e.g.
*make cross-check*?

Yes, we heavily work on this... see THRIFT-2312 (.travis.yml), THRIFT-1985
(Vagrantfile) or THRIFT-847 (cross language test suite)
