I am still using jdk6, so did not investigate the new Deflater in jdk7.
Attached is the modified patch to work with the latest jzlib.
Basically it uses the new Inflator and Deflator classes. Using the deprecated
ZOutputStream breaks things. I also have a patch for the deprecated
ZOutputStream if anyone is interested.
