You and I have divergent opinions about the desirability for ambiguity in
programming interfaces :) An empty list and an absent list are distinguishable
in the thrift wire protocol, so my assumption was that they should be
distinguishable in the generated code. Using `nil` to represent both in Golang
makes that impossible... A far more benign and less problematic version of the
issue that prompted my fix in the first place!
But this is not a big deal -- just wanted to make sure my perspective was
recorded...
